Sink Template and Cutout Coordination for Quartz Composite Sinks
Sink cutouts are a recurring source of rework in North American kitchen programs. The countertop is usually fabricated before the sink arrives on site, so the cutout has to be built from a template or a dimension sheet. For distributors and project buyers supplying quartz composite sinks into those programs, the coordination steps below prevent the most common problems.
Confirm the Mounting Style Before Fabrication
Undermount and topmount sinks need different cutouts. Undermount models bond beneath the counter and need a template that accounts for the rim, the reveal, and the clip layout; topmount models drop into an opening sized to the rim. Confirming which is specified avoids rework on both the stone and the sink.

For undermount installations, agree the reveal preference — positive (sink edge exposed) or negative (counter edge exposed) — with the fabrication shop. Confirm drain rough-in position and faucet-hole layout per model; these differ between single, double, and partitioned bowls, and between compact and full-size formats.
